Eco Facts

We believe in protecting the environment.

At San Diego Mission Bay Resort, the bay is our backyard. We know eco-friendly initiatives are of the utmost importance and that is why we strongly believe in taking the necessary steps to help ensure that our resort helps preserve and protect the indoor and outdoor environment.

Climate Change & Resilience

No more tiny bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash! Instead, our guests are treated to the luxurious scent and nourishment of our Lather bath & body essentials in large shower pump bottles to reduce the usage of single use plastic bottles.

The Paperless Future

At San Diego Mission Bay Resort we’ve eliminated the use of paper menus by developing QR codes that are available to scan at every outlet and dining table. We also have a paperless check-in and check-out process to help reduce paper consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

San Diego Mission Bay Resort is Strawless

In an effort to reduce waste and to keep our oceans clean and free from plastic and trash, San Diego Mission Bay Resort offers biodegradable bamboo straws upon request.

Fresh Food Locally Sourced

Our Food & Beverage Department is guided by the principles of sustainability. We lean on the use of organic local produce from the local farms in surrounding areas of San Diego, and prepare sustainable California coastal cuisine and seafood daily.

Biodiversity

At San Diego Mission Bay Resort we carry Aloe Up sunscreen in our retail store Mercado. Aloe Up formulas are certified biodegradable, non-greasy, reef friendly, water resistant and absorbs quickly for a comfortable and light-weight feel.

Diversity and Inclusion

San Diego Mission Bay Resort is committed to diversity and inclusion for all of our associates. Throughout the year we hold associate events that celebrate our diverse staff. From themed lunches, holiday events, and regular pot luck events, our cultural diversity is an integral part of our employment culture. Formal diversity training is part of our onboarding process for new associates and reinforced annually through our online training partners.

Community Efforts

Our bi-monthly beach clean ups of Mission Bay ensures that our team members get involved in the community, and help keep the beautiful shores of Mission Bay clean from waste and trash. We have coordinated events with Big Table, an organization dedicated to assisting hospitality associates in times of crisis, and have hosted annual Easterseals Southern California events to support those with disabilities. San Diego Mission Bay Resort also hosts a holiday celebration for the Tijuana Women’s Shelter, assisting women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

Water Conservation

In an effort to help support water conservation, our team changes linens every three days or upon guest check-out. We also ask guests to participate in hanging their towels to dry for reuse during their stay. Our forever lawn at Garden by the Bay, is a new breed of artificial grass that is realistic, sustainable, functional, and best of all, it’s virtually maintenance–free.
